LINDEN — Robert “Bobby” Lee Hair, age 72, of Durant Nixon Road, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021 at his home.
Bobby was born on Feb. 14, 1949, in Cumberland County, the son of the late Harvey Allen Hair and Nettie Belle Hair and was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Lee Hair. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Harvey A. Hair and Floyd Hair, and a sister, Betty Jean Bryant.
Bobby worked for BB & J Telephone Contractors as a lineman for 45 years. Bobby was a simple person who loved his family. He loved the outdoors and when he was at home he could be found in the yard tinkering on his junk. He loved to buy and restore Ford Ranger trucks.
Bobby and his wife had a place at Sneads Ferry where they enjoyed spending their summers. They enjoyed fishing at the beach as well as flounder gigging in the inland waterway and inlets as well as going out in the ocean fishing. They enjoyed sitting in their swing taking in all of nature.
He was an outdoors man all the way around and loved to go barefoot outside. He lost interest in the beach after his wife died leaving a huge hole in his heart and his way of life.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, Aug. 8, at 3 p.m. at Hair’s Chapel Church with the Rev. Tommy Underhill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Lee Spell of Linden; a son, Robert Curtis Hair of Linden; grandchildren, Deborah Lynn Spell, Dameon Zeke Hair, Trenton James Davis, Juliana Marion Hair, Robbie Preston Leland Hair and Hunter David Newton; and brother, Henry Hair of Linden.
The family will receive friends at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Saturday, Aug. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home.
