Euro 2020 has been a tournament full of drama, with the penalty shootouts the peak.

As evidenced in the clash between Italy and Spain last night, there is nothing quite like seeing two teams having their entire tournament riding on ten penalties.

Of course, there is another international tournament going on across the Atlantic at the moment. It had its own shootout last night, with Argentina defeating Colombia.

The star of the show was undoubtedly Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, saving three penalties. We would like to think that his trash talk had something to do with it.

With no supporters in the stadium, it was easy to hear the words that were being exchanged before each spot kick.

It's fair to say Martinez didn't hold back.

The highlights of his performance included telling Yerry Mina he was going to 'eat him up', calling Miguel Borja a 'pussy' for running his mouth earlier in the game.

Unsurprisingly, the referee didn't take too kindly to it. You can watch his performance below.

Lionel Messi also got in on the act, shouting 'how about dancing now' to Mina after his miss.

The Everton player had pulled out a cheeky dance after scoring in a shootout against Uruguay in the previous round.

Speaking after the game, Messi was full of praise for his goalkeeper:

We have Emi who is a phenomenon.

We trusted him. We achieved the goal of being able to play all the games and now we are going to the final.

Argentina will now face Brazil in the final at 1am on Sunday morning Irish time, with the 34-year old hoping to win the first international trophy of his distinguished career.

He will have a good chance of doing so if Martinez is in this sort of form.
