Salma Hayek stunned at the 2021 Golden Globes in a red Alexander McQueen gown as she presented the Best Director award to Chloé Zhao for Nomadland. The actress shared photos of her red-hot look to Instagram.
While her gown certainly turned heads, Hayek’s gorgeous curls perfectly complimented her dress. And lucky for us, her hairstylist, Jennifer Yepez, shared the exact products she used to give Hayek red carpet ready hair on Instagram.
“The dress was sexy and light so we thought the hair should match that vibe—so fresh, soft, sexy, and young was what we went for,” Yepez said in a press release. She specifically used UNITE Hair’s products to style Hayek’s hair, and the whole process was actually quite simple.

First, Yepez applied UNITE’s 7SECONDS Leave-In Conditioner to Hayek’s damp hair. “The cult-favorite leave-in conditioner instantly adds moisture to the hair, seals the cuticle, and adds a base of protection prior to heat styling,” Yepez said. Then, she used the UNITE U Argan Oil to smooth frizz, boost hydration, and offer another layer of protection.
Next, Yepez added some oomph to Hayek’s hair with the UNITE BOOSTA Volumizing Spray “to give hair weightless volume with a healthy sheen and enhanced texture” before blow drying, she said.
Then, using a medium brown brush, Yepez went to work by blow drying clean sections of Hayek’s hair. “Once you have blow dried all of the hair nice and sleek, I make my sections once again starting at the nape and clipping up the hair,” she said, adding that she used a 1.75-in. curling iron to achieve Hayek’s curls. She took 1-in. sections of hair and wrapped them around the curling iron starting at the root, leaving the ends out.
“The key is to wrap one section going downwards and the following section upwards. When you are framing the face, you want to wave one section downwards and then wave the following section away from the face,” she said. “Once you’re done waving all of the hair, I take a large tooth comb and I comb all of the hair.” This way, the curls have a looser look.
She finished everything off with the UNITE GO365 Hairspray and 7SECONDS Glossing Spray, which results in a “beautiful shine.”
