Prior to asking the internet for advice, Brown called on her mother and sisters for help, trying a variety of oils to try and rid her hair of the hard-turned substance, but with little success. “The reason I took it to social media, was because I didn’t know what else to do,” Brown told Johnson. “And I knew somebody out there could tell me something. I didn’t know when I woke up in the morning that it would be everyone.”

Did She Seek Medical Attention?
Unlike other hair emergencies, this one is so far beyond a hair snafu and requires medical attention. Brown went to the emergency room of a hospital in Louisiana. They provided her with saline water and nail polish wipes to take home, after Brown asked if she could finish the removal process from home. Her sister posted videos on her own TikTok of the process, and it was evident that she was in serious pain.

How Did She Get The Glue Out?
Brown is currently Los Angeles “to get this glue out of my head finally,” confirming a TMZ report that she was heading to Beverly Hills to work with plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Obeng. He told CBS Los Angeles he believed he could remove the glue with a “special chemical treatment” and will perform the $12,500 procedure at no cost to Brown.

Is Her Hair Okay?
“I think it's highly disconcerting that her hair hasn't budged in over a month, which speaks to it possibly not having any growth, which is abnormal,” board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon Dr. Meena Singh told BAZAAR.com prior to the news of the surgery. “So she may have a problem with oxygenation to the scalp. Her follicles may be occluded. It's unclear if that has occurred.” With the removal procedure just having finished, the state of her hair and scalp is still unclear.

“I feel awful for her and I feel that what she did is actually relatable,” says Singh. She recalls comments she’s received as a surgeon from colleagues when her hair isn’t in a perfect, pinned back bun. “I think it speaks to greater issues: That Black women feel the pressure to have their hair look as perfect as possible so that we don’t stand out because of our hair.”
