A Mt. Pleasant father wants answers Monday night after he says a teacher and another student cut his daughter’s hair.
Jimmy Hoffmeyer says his 7-year-old daughter Jurnee came home from Ganiard Elementary in Mt. Pleasant with her hair cut on Wednesday March 24.
Hoffmeyer says a student cut her hair on the bus. From there, he took his daughter to the salon to try and fix it without sacrificing length.
That Friday, Hoffmeyer says Jurnee came home with her hair cut even shorter by the teacher without his permission or consent.
He says the school offered to have the teacher write an apology, but no explanation as to why this happened.
“It happened once and you would think, they had calls from us, us being mad and all of this from a child doing it. What made you think that it would be okay if an adult did it, I don’t understand what her reasoning,” says Hoffmeyer.
The National Parents Union for Hoffmeyer and his daughter have requested security camera footage from the school, however the school has not responded.
9&10 News has also made several attempts to contact the school, but they have not returned our calls for comment.
The issue was not addressed during Monday night’s school board meeting, despite multiple attempts to discuss during public comment.
