Rodan + Fields Has a New Hair Care Line - Mane Addicts

jembutikal.blogspot.com

You might know Rodan + Fields as the brains behind the well-known acne skincare line Proactiv. They’ve been busy working on new launches as of late, coming out with a hair care line that takes a skincare-first approach.

Bridget Brager, the celebrity hairstylist with 15 years of experience in the industry has been working with Rodan + Fields on the scalp care/hair care line for the past two and a half years, making sure each product is crafted with both skincare and hair styling in mind. I spoke to Brager (and tried the products) for everything you need to know about the Rodan + Fields hair care products, including how to use them and what products are must-haves.

About Rodan + Fields Hair Care

As you could probably guess, with the Rodan + Fields hair care line taking a skincare-first approach, the products are meant to tackle scalp health concerns. No, this line isn’t just meant for individuals who experience dandruff because everyone needs to take care of their scalp. While the line includes products for each hair type, they all focus on balancing the scalp, removing product buildup, and encouraging healthy hair growth by taking care of the follicles.

“Because Rodan + Fields is a leader in the skincare industry, and I know how badly my clients and people everywhere need scalp care for better overall hair health, it made sense to start at the foundation—at the root of most people’s hair concerns, which is the scalp,” says Brager.

She adds that they believe scalp care is an extension of skincare, acknowledging people are focused on achieving healthy hair but with products and formulas that often have no real benefit for long-term hair health.

About the Rodan + Fields Hair Care Products

The hair care line included two three-step regimens, SMOOTH+ and VOLUME+, and two stylers. I love that the launch doesn’t include too many products but I’m eager to see how they expand.

“This is a foundational, restorative line. Just like you layer your skincare before applying makeup, you can’t forget to protect your scalp and hair once out of the shower. This third step has been missing in most of our hair care routines, but this collection was launched with the determination to fix that! The ‘+’ after all our product names signifies that skincare ingredients were used, and all formulas are sulfate-free in color safe,” says Brager.

VOLUME+ Regimen

$122 at RodanAndFields.com

This regimen is ideal for fine, flat hair. It’s the one I personally used to get to know the line as I have fine, wavy hair. The shampoo and conditioner are designed to add volume at the roots while helping achieve the look of body and thickness throughout your strands. I love using the shampoo and conditioner before I blow out my hair and I can really see a difference in how my hair feels and wears between washes. I use less dry shampoo as my hair isn’t sticking so close to my scalp absorbing oil, and it looks like it has so much movement and fullness to it.

The third product in the trio is a densifying treatment made with hyaluronic acid to protect, re-energize and nourish the scalp. It’s super lightweight (it actually feels like water) and absorbs into your roots quickly.

“It can be used as intended on damp hair and is also a great refresh for in-between washes.
Simply spray it on dry hair, targeting the roots, and scalp massage the treatment in while using your blow dryer over directing the hair with your fingers or a brush until dry,” says Brager.

SMOOTH+ Regimen

$122 at RodanAndFields.com

The SMOOTH+ Regimen is meant to target dull, dry, and frizzy hair. It’s ideal for anyone who has medium-thick hair or curly, coarse, or coily hair.

Like the VOLUME+ Regimen, it comes with a shampoo, conditioner, and treatment product. All of the products are meant to be hydrating and relaxing, with the Defrizz+ Oil Treatment smoothing frizz and locking in moisture before moving on to heat styling. It also serves as a heat protectant.

Brager notes you can use the Defrizz+ Oil Treatment in three ways: As a pre-shampoo treatment—apply it from the scalp to the ends of your hair and let it sit for 20 minutes (or all night). Follow with shampoo and conditioner. As it’s intended to be used—on damp hair, after you shampoo and condition. Run it through your hair from mid to ends before using a blowdryer or any hot tools. After you style your hair, apply a dime-sized amount and emulsify it in your hands, raking through the bottom length of your hair. This will add extra shine and protection.

REFRESH+ Dry Shampoo

$39 at RodanAndFields.com

This is such an amazing dry shampoo. Personally, I haven’t stopped using it since receiving it. I like it because it is light and isn’t overpowering to the hair, weighing it down further. It’s made with chamomile extract to soothe the scalp and rice starch to volumize.

I would consider this a “buildable” dry shampoo, meaning you can add more throughout the day if you need it or extend your hair into a day three or four post-shower.

DEFINE+ Curl Cream

$39 at RodanAndFields.com

This is the ultimate nourishing product to protect and define your curls. I even used a little bit and I was shocked at how it brought out and preserved my waves. “It’s an all-in-one styling treatment, lightweight, buildable, and allows our curly-haired gals to let their curls shine,” says Brager.
