9 of the very best scalp scrubs to deep cleanse your hair - CosmopolitanME

jembutikal.blogspot.com

If you haven't introduced a scalp scrub to your haircare routine yet, you don't know what you're missing out on.

As someone with greasy/oily hair, I personally love to use a scalp scrub once a week for a deep, exfoliating clean, but no matter your hair type, we've got you covered. From more gentle formulas like Bouclème and Briogeo, which are great for curly hair, to more abrasive sea salt scrubs like Christophe Robin's.

In the same way you exfoliate your face, it's important to (gently) exfoliate your scalp. Sometimes your shampoo just isn't enough to dislodge all that sweat and sebum. Not too mention product overload, which if left to build up, can cause serious irritation issues. If you rely on dry shampoo, it's definitely worth investing in a scalp scrub.

It's not just products and oil, dirt and pollution also linger in your scalp, the same way they would linger on your face. Think of a scrub as not only benefiting your scalp, but also helping your overall hair health. You're never going to say no to something that stimulates hair growth, right?

Here is my edit of the best scalp scrubs on the market, from ones like Ouai and Goop which have been regulars in my shower for months, to newer formulas, like Coco & Eve's just launched Deep Clean Scalp Scrub.

Just remember to read the back of the tube as some of these will double up as your shampoo, but others are pre-shampoo treatments.

Now, go get ready for a great hair day.

1. Coco & Eve Deep Clean Scalp Scrub

COCO & EVE, Dhs161 at cultbeauty.co.uk

If you're looking for a deep scalp clean, look no further. Coco & Eve's scrub contains coconut shell and Balinese volcano ash to manually exfoliate, as well as alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy acids to slough away dead skin cells. If you're a fan of peppermint you'll also love the scent.

2. Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt

CHRISTOPHE ROBIN, Dhs81 at lookfantastic.com

Christophe Robin's scrub is the OG, launching way back in 2013. His simple sea salt formula is both effective and gentle on the scalp, removing any product build up that's accumulated. Personally I like to use this as a deep clean once a week.

3. Umberto Giannini Grow Scrub Scalp Scrub

UMBERTO GIANNINI, Dhs42 at boots.com

This affordable scrub promises to speed up hair growth by unblocking hair follicles and removing product build up. As well as exfoliating the scalp, it also gently cleanses your hair and is ideal to use as a once a week clarifying treatment.

4. Ouai Scalp & Body Scrub

OUAI, Dhs114 at lookfantastic.com

This two-in-one scrub can be used to exfoliate both your scalp and body, saving you forking out on two separate products.

With that signature Ouai scent we all love, the sugar crystals gently remove excess oil, dirt and flakes, while the prebiotic formula protects against pollution which can also build up in the hair, causing irritation.

5. Yes To Tea Tree Gentle & Soothing Pre-Shampoo Scalp Scrub

YES TO, Dhs33 at beautybay.com

Scalp scrubs tend to be on the more expensive side, but this formula by Yes To is thankfully affordable. It contains tea tree and sage oil as well as witch hazel to sooth your scalp. Ideal if you struggle with spots up there. This one doesn't double as a shampoo, so just make sure you follow up with one.

6. Goop G.Tox Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub Shampoo

GOOP, Dhs179 at cultbeauty.co.uk

This scrub strikes that perfect balance between making your scalp feel extra clean, but also not being too gritty and uncomfortable to use, thanks to the thick formula. It uses your favourite seasoning: pink Himalayan salt and rose hip oil to detox, whilst keeping your scalp nourished. Pricey, but trust me, a tub will last you ages.

7. Kérastase Soothing Scrub

KERASTASE, Dhs160 at lookfantastic.com

This acts as a deep cleansing shampoo and scrub in one. The gel texture feels really soothing on irritated scalps and gently helps balance your oil production, as well as deal with dryness and any pesky flakes thanks to its jojoba oil blend.

8. Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo

BRIOGEO, Dhs170 at cultbeauty.co.uk

Briogeo is one of those brands that we just trust so of course their scrub is making our edit. This is one for you if you're looking for a more gentle and less abrasive exfoliation. Charcoal is used to draw out impurities such as dirt and pollution which can linger in the hair, while peppermint, spearmint and tea tree oil reduce inflammation.

9. Bouclème Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo

BOUCLÈME, Dhs98 at lookfantastic.com

While some of the scrubs on this list need to be used in conjunction with a shampoo, Bouclème's version combines both... woohoo. This is possibly the most gentle 'scrub' on the list thanks to hydrogenated castor beads which are less abrasive than say sea salt. If you struggle with scalp conditions this could be one for you as the formula is specifically designed to reduce the bacteria on your scalp and in your hair.
