100 Years Ago, for the first week of April 1921, from the pages of the Greeley Tribune-Republican newspaper:

Road work by the state will continue on the highway south of Platteville. The superintendent of the project sat id they could complete the project in 60 days, and added that the gravel they are using “is the best I’ve ever seen.”

The Levy Cash and Carry grocery is now delivering groceries to home for a cost of 10 cents.

Note: “He was a wise man who said he didn’t have time to worry. In the daytime he was too busy and at night he was too sleepy.”

An Eaton man had a bad day in Greeley Friday. In the morning court, he was convicted of chicken stealing, and in afternoon court he was convicted of selling moonshine. His total fines were $1,100, plus 30 days in jail.

In Switzerland, a woman paid two men to kill her because she wanted to die right away. However, the men didn’t kill her and were arrested for embezzling her money.

The State Teachers College here set several new rules for students, including:

  • Don’t pick any of the college’s flowers.
  • Walk only on the sidewalks and not on grass.
  • Don’t take books from the library unless you check them out.
  • Don’t mutilate books.

The Guy Johnson Fruit & Vegetable Store is now open at 837 9th St. They sell only fancy fruits and vegetables.

The Coast-to-Coast Church of the Nazarene had a rally in Greeley and they were preached to by national evangelist Rev. C.W. Ruth. Many said the service was “interesting.”

Many Greeley citizens have made the pleasurable trip to Estes Park recently. IN addition to enjoying the mountains, many Greeleyites have brought back armloads of Pussy Willows, which were growing along the river banks.

An airplane from the Southern Wyoming Aircraft Association visited Milliken, where citizens could purchase a 15-minute ride on the plane for $12.50.

In the upcoming mayoral election, there is only one candidate on the ballot. However, rumors of the city discouraging write-in candidates are not true. There is ample room on every ballot to write in the name of a different candidate.

I.B. Deaver was driving his Studebaker auto on Reservoir Road, five miles west of town, when he felt the floor getting hot. He quickly stopped and jumped out of the auto, which burst into flames. The auto was destroyed, except the radiator and spark plugs. But before the auto could be moved. Thieves stole those parts.
